Windows

Bare windows of Sion Fort.

The Sion Hillock Fort was built under the regime of the English East India Company, between 1669 and 1677, atop a conical hillock when Gerard Aungier was the Governor of Bombay. When it was built, the fort marked the boundary between British-held Parel island and the Portuguese held Salsette Island that lay to the north across the creek.

Haunted ruins

mukesh textile mills, haunted, colaba, sassoon docks, fishing, boat, arabian sea, mumbai, india, ghosts, ruins,

A fishing boat sails past the haunted ruins of the Mukesh Textile Mills in the background. The story goes that after it shut down in 1982 due to the workers' strike, it caught fire in which some employees died and their ghosts return to haunt the living till date. Movies are shot there during daytime and they vacate the area by sunset. Had posted another picture here on 21May18.

Once upon a time in history.... this was a watchtower on the Sion Hillock fort that was built by the British between 1669 and 1677 to mark the boundary between the British held Parel island and the Portugese held Salsette island to the north of the creek.

Vasai fort ruins

This fort was built by the Portugese in 1590 AD to strengthen their naval superiority over the Arabian Sea. The fort was taken over by the Maratha army in 1739 after a three-year-long campaign. The British then took over the territory from the Marathas in 1817 AD.
